What's a good first post???

Not sure how to start this, so I guess I'll just go into my intentions for my game and this blog:

After years of playing "complicated" CRPGs, wargames, hex and counter wargames, I'm dipping my toes into solo TTRPG/RPGs. I'm making it extra complicated on myself by bringing together different systems and ideas to create a campaign style game.

I'm using Free League's Twilight 2000 4th Edition as a framework, but then mixing in mechanics and ideas from Mythic GM Emulator, Ironsworn, and other homebrewed systems and rules.

I've creating my own setting, borrowing heavily from books such as Parable of the Sower and Parable of the Talents by Octavia Butler, Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel, Bannerless by Carrie Vaughn, and The Road movie.

The game will follow a settlement of survivors of an apocalyptic virus in Portland, Oregon with three main protagonists. I'll be playing the three main characters and using the settlement and the founder and de-facto leader's goals as a jumping point for adventures. Random events created from tables will also drive the story.

I've tried out one session already, just to see how and if it works. I didn't have Mythic yet when I did the session, so I used an emulator (based on Mythic and the Free Universal RPG) taken from this old blog, tables from T2K4 and Ironsworn to push and randomize the narrative.

The session was supposed to be a simple scrounging mission without much drama. But using the systems and tables mentioned above, the character I was following instead spotted a prisoner/guard situation and a foreboding event. Wow, I thought, I really didn't expect that.

So, I'm moving forward and will be posting the first session here soon. I'm hoping to also introduce the setting, the characters, and the mechanics while highlighting the tools I use.
